Stuff to do, time permitting:
1. Read the Statement of Facts
2. Read the Probable Cause Statement (a few pages before the Fact Statement)
3. Read the Charges (the previous page) and look through the Legal Authorities (following pages) to make sure you understand the charges, what they mean and what the Prosecution MUST prove to convict. Attorneys will spend a lot of time on these pages.
4. Read Detective Riley's and Sawyer Simpson's witness statements.
5. Read Casey Campbell's and Cameron Cortez's witness statements.
6. Read the remaining witness statements (expert witnesses).
7. Read through the Stipulations at the end of the witness statements. These are facts or events that are NOT in question. Both Prosecution and Defense accept them and will NOT challenge their veracity (truthfulness).
8. Come up with stories for both sides. Tell what happened from both the Prosecution and then from Defense perspective.
9. Dissect the witness statements: Strengths and Weaknesses. Go through each statement and compare and contrast what each witness says to the Charges and Legal Authorities.

ReplyDeleteAnyways. Meredith and I noticed that Casey Campbell is being charged with posessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds.
If you look at the definitions, a dangerous weapon DOES NOT include explosives of any sort. was that purposeful? How does defense handle that? Better yet...how does prosecution handle that?
Let's ask Mr. Sevison or Mr. Bartholomew on Friday. Note it and plow through the rest of the material, noting any other discrepancies and questions for our attorney coaches.
